Meditation for Kids (5 - 8 Years Old)

9/26/2018

November 17; December 1; 8; 15 from 11:00 AM - 12:15 PM
Using stories, songs, drawing, and movement practices, children will have the opportunity to learn about and practice "meditations" for focusing attention, developing greater body awareness, deepening creativity and finding their "peaceful place".

Few notions could be further from the truth than that childhood is a relatively stress-free time compared with adult life. In fact, children experience love, joy, fear, disappointment and anger with an intensity they may never experience in adulthood.

Meditation can be an important aid we provide our children for coping and even flourishing in their lives at both the personal and academic levels. Meditation can offer even young children a sense of empowerment in regard to their thinking and their emotions, not by repressive self-control, but by enhanced self-understanding and self-acceptance.

All teachings and practices shared are secular and recommended for children ages 5-8.

Mindfulness Yoga Immersive Training

9/24/2018

Mindfulness Yoga Immersive Training

This 40-hour training provides instruction and guidance to those wishing to integrate mindfulness practice into their yoga practice or teaching, and cultivates a deeper, broader approach to yoga.

This training is open to yoga teachers (from any tradition, lineage or style) and yoga practitioners who have been practicing at least two years. The training assumes knowledge of the basic traditional yoga postures and competency in body awareness, including proper alignment.

The format of the training emphasizes integration of philosophy and practice. An exploration of the Buddha's own yogic education and discoveries (later formulated as the Four Noble Truths and The Noble Eightfold Path) will be undertaken. We will discuss what mindfulness is, and equally important, what it is not. The similarities of Patanjali's approach to mindfulness will be examined.

Following this, an in-depth exploration of the Four Establishments (or Foundations) of Mindfulness will be presented. The importance the Buddha placed on body awareness will provide the groundwork for our study of the more subtle aspects of our experience. This will include learning how to deal with the obstacles to practice.

We will learn ways to integrate the teachings with practice, both sitting meditation and asana practice. Attention will be paid to languaging, typical questions that come up during practice, common difficulties (the hindrances) that students often confront, and the strategies to deal with them.

Sangha Building will also be explored, an essential component in cultivating the culture of mindfulness with your students and creating "communities of mindfulness."

MARCH 17 - 22, 2019
in TUCSON at Tucson Yoga

“Frank Jude's Mindfulness Yoga training and correspondence work was the most valuable mindfulness exploration and living practice I've ever done. The meditation techniques and Buddhist philosophy were taught thoroughly and in a way that was very relatable and easy to understand. Frank Jude's subsequent commitment to online/skype interviews every month was unprecedented in terms of the level of guidance, support and much needed encouragement that was offered. Frank Jude's lack of pretense, his humor, and willingness to share from his own experience also made working with him a tremendous joy. For anyone who wishes to not only understand Mindfulness, but to embody the practice, I cannot recommend this training highly enough. This course was nothing short of life-changing.”
-- Jessica Lemon, Senior Modo Yoga Teacher, Toronto

"Frank Jude inspires us to the integrated path of yoga and mindfulness with a true teacher’s voice of clarity, compassion and common sense.”
— Cyndi Lee, author of OM Yoga

The Extended Learning Component includes an additional 30 weeks of home study, with monthly assignments and  monthly individual interviews with Frank Jude.
