JULY 19, 26, AUGUST 3 Theory & Practice For Living In Time
When people hear about “mindfully living in the present” and are led to believe the problem is thinking about the past or the future, it is natural that they become confused. Does this mean we should not treasure memories, or even take photos? How do we even pack for vacation or plan a menu if we are not supposed to think about the future?
Well, even at the time of the Buddha such questions arose and in two short discourses, the Buddha gave clear, easy to understand guidelines as to how to live in the present without ignoring the past and the future but rather offered a more skillful way of relating to past, present, and future.
Join me for three sessions where we will explore the teachings of the Buddha and ways we can practice within our lived experiences and relationships. In Session One, I will offer an introduction to the subject matter of these two suttas, The Theranamo Sutta and The Bhaddekaratta Sutta.
Between session one and two, you will read the suttas and bring any questions or responses to the second session where we will begin our discussion of putting the teachings into practice. This discussion will continue and conclude on our third meeting. Saturdays July 19, 26 and August 2 From 9:30 AM – 11 AM Arizona Time (MST) Sliding Fee: $30 - $60 If you are unable to attend in real time, sessions will be recorded and you can still participate via email.
